Virtual Reality...

I know I'm a touch late...but surely you can forgive me for my tardiness...

Our nation has just celebrated (or not depending on where you live) its 49th Anniversary of Independence.

In this time when we should most put aside our differences, we have spent it in dissent, bickering amongst ourselves. We have lost something of who we are as a people and in searching for that thing, I look upon our National Anthem (the greatest anthem ever created) back to where it all began, and wonder at the emotions that must have run through Mr Patrick Castagne (1916-2000) as he composed them.

Forged from the love of liberty

In the fires of hope and prayer

With boundless faith in our destiny

We solemnly declare

Side by side we stand

Islands of the blue Caribbean Sea

This our native land

We pledge our lives to thee

Our independence did not come easy. It was hard-won. Our unity of goal, and of belief in spite of our diversity kept us going and won us the ability to govern ourselves. Let us put aside our differences and varied allegiances, let us come together to celebrate this accomplishment, celebrate ourselves and stand proud!
